I can't believe more people aren't here and commenting. I've been studying the Institute of Noetic Sciences and The Global Consciousness project for a few years. The topics fascinate me. As someone strictly non-religious, the scientific aspects of global consciousness are what drew me to the topic. Needless to say, I AM is exactly what I love about science. It proves that there is a logical explanation for the innerconnectivy of us. We all need to see this movie, again and again and again until the message sinks in.

I would like to share this with you all: Whenever you can, take a few dollars, whatever you can afford, write on them "I wish you, health, happiness, and love." Then take a trip to a department or grocery store, such as Wal-Mart, Target, or your local grocery store, and tape them or put the bills into different items. Things like diapers, baby formula, a can of soup, or slip it in a book or inside a new purse or kids backpack.

I've done this many times and what a feeling of joy! Don't stay around to watch someone get the item, just know that you have maybe made someone's day a little bit better

This is a smack inthe face, I hate when people who have more money have an awakening and give it all up, but not the money. I was hit by a drunk driver 3 years ago, and I owe, not my flat but I owe, my house is in foreclosure and my bills are high, and I had dreams, I had dreams of being a great photographer, now I sit because no one will give me credit, a job and my poor wife has to work two jobs but yet this guy gives it all up, I think this is a smack in my face and everyone else like me, some people are born losers and can't do anything about it no matter what, my life is prime example, everything I try something I get more road blocks than a construction crew on a highway, I get kicked while I'm down, and to say we are all connected is wrong, if we were then I think my life would have changed a long time ago, so please when making your next movie don't tell people you had it all and gave it up, that hurts for people who are facing homelessness like me and my kids

I want to thank Tom Shadyac and all those who participated in making this film. I loved the bits about the research...how scientists have found our ultimate connectedness to each other and to the universe. I also loved the description of things I have experienced repeatedly in my life: the upliftment that comes with empathic unity with others, the effect that we have on events and people, the pre-knowing of things that haven't yet happened, but are about to happen.

I also appreciated the clear description of the fallacies we accept: survival of the fittest through competition, or that "more is more" when it comes to material things adding to happiness. Brilliant.

But most important, the unfolding of the realization that I, me, one person--has the power to change the world. LOVE this! So true. I can testify to this in my own life, but the examples of great men and women who did this (it was like a "who's who" of my favorite inspirational humans) really underlined this.

I want to encourage Tom and other film makers to continue to make outstanding films that help awaken humanity to our true value and power and nature.

Count me in!

Hello to Tom and the community.

I'm so glad to see that there is a community of people who were affected by the film and are here posting. It was a beautiful and inspiring movie. Some of the authors whom I found most influential on my own journey were present in the film, specifically Daniel Quinn and Thom Hartmann (and of course, Zinn and Chomsky for that matter.) I really enjoyed seeing all those great minds together in one project - especially one with such good intentions.

I wanted to make everyone here aware of another project, in which you all are invited to participate. It is titled "Start Here" and can be found online at http://startherefreebook.blogspot.com

"Start Here" is a collaborative effort to write and rewrite a book, and for that reason, no author's
name is attached to the writing. In addition, every precaution is
being taken to keep this project's motivations pure and egoless. No
money will EVER be involved and the book will NEVER be sold in any
form.

In general, "Start
Here" covers issues such as the ego, inner peace, positive
attitudes and coping with an unsustainable culture gone mad. The ideas and topics dovetail nicely with ones covered in the film "I Am."

Its main purpose is to stimulate discussion and to encourage people to
make positive choices in their daily lives in regards to themselves and
the people around them.

Saw I AM for the 1st time last night. Fascinating. It links directly to the recently relased (July 4, 2012) contemporary fantasy novel - Ranching the Galaxy ( http://www.marketwire.com/pres.....676142.htm for Press Release ). Hopefully, America will wake up to the lack of love and light that remains after so many have been sucked into the obsessions of conspicous consumption. We are being watched by our creator from Zone Eleven and it is not a pretty picture. We are currently looking for a director/producer with the vision and skills of Tom Shadyac to create a movie from the book.

Here is a local project my wife and I are working on in the spirit of I AM. Herb

We have the money economy and also the non money economy (friends, family and neighbors giving, sharing helping) both at the same time. I think most of us are stuck with the present money economy and it can be challenging to change to a new way. My wife and I are trying a project in Blacksburg, Va. It promotes the non money economy (but also includes the money economy) for greater abundance of all types for people in a local area. Accessing collective knowlege for benefit great and small. It almost makes me feel as if what I have accomplished has become futile? I have yet to experience, myself the beauty of BEING loved the way I love others, by someone else, so it is,, that driving force of lack, in my life, helps me fine tune the Love within me that grows, to share with countless others, hoping someday I will meet just one person, who can love and knows how to love as God Himself has taught me to love others....I do love myself, not in a conceited way mind you, but in a way, that is healthy... :) Yet, I do wonder before my life is finished here if Love will elude me ,or will I experience it? Only time will tell I suppose.Your Documentary, has helped me to realize to keep on doing what I am doing...Giving Love, sharing my heart and time, sharing donations when they come in of food and clothing to all whom I meet, giving free rides to the grocery store and doctors offices for the elderly and disabled...Offering hope to a seemingly hopeless world.

At age 82 I had an enormous amount of memories of life experiences in many countries that came to the fore on seeing "I am". Let me share two with you.

At
a meeting of some of the poorest citizens of the city of Manizales,
Colombia, perched 7,000 ft. above sea level, high in the Andes I noticed
a woman trying to read a newspaper. I say 'trying' because she was
holding it up side down and only on seeing a photograph did she turn it
around. I asked her for permission to visit her residence as I was
studying how folks such as she lived. "Oh, mister, my dwelling is very
humble. I don't think you would be interested in visiting me." "On the
contrary," I responded, "I want to visit persons in all social
situations." She gave me the number of her house in Barrio Galan and
suggested that I call at 2 p.m. the next day. The health department
numbers all shacks in these slum neighborhoods.

The next day at 2 p.m. I
knocked at the door frame of the indicated shack. Looking inside the
open door I noticed a large bed frame. One family lived above the bed
frame and another lived underneath it. The dwelling was less than three
meters by four meters in size. I informed the occupant that I was
looking for Sra. Fulana de tal (Mrs. so and so). I was informed that she
lived "en los bajos." (in the basement.) The shack was built on a steep
hillside so I went around back and looked into a small space cut under
the floor boards of the shack above. Every time some one walked in the
unit above dirt would fall down on the residents of this poor space. A
single light bulb of about 20 watts illuminated the darkness even though
it was two in the afternoon. The electricity was stolen as someone had
tapped into the city power line.

The woman I had met the evening
before was there and apologized for her humble circumstances. With her
was her husband, lying on a litter in the limited space that they
occupied. I was informed that he had a broken back and could not work.
An infant was crying. The woman gave the baby a bottle that had colored
water in it. I inquired what she was feeding the baby and was informed
that she had put a bit of panella (sugar from sugar cane) in the water
as that was all that she had to feed the child. She explained that they
had another child about 10 years old who was mentally retarded but one
day he went out and never came back. She thinks he was probably
kidnapped to work on a farm as slave labor. But she has never heard of
him again.

To begin the interview I asked
her where she had come from before she lived in this barrio and was told
that she and her family had fled from the countryside as the violence
there threatened their lives. [this was the time of the civil war called
"La Violencia en Colombia."] I followed up this question by asking "How
do you like living in this barrio?" and I will never forget her
response. "God has given us such wonderful neighbors, we are blessed.
When we arrived a neighbor nearby came with a small cup of soup to
welcome us to the neighborhood. Yesterday another neighbor brought us
several bananas. We truly feel lucky and count our blessings to live in
such a wonderful neighborhood."

Ah, yes, let us count our blessings.

During this time my wife
and I were living with our two sons in a three bedroom house in a nice
residential neighborhood of the city. At noon, when we were having our
meal, if there was a timid knock on the door we would have one of our
boys answer the door. If it was a child from the local orphanage begging
leftovers (pidiendo sobreitas) we would have him go to his plate and
share some of his food with the kid at the door. We wanted our sons to
have the ability to recognize that they were blessed and should share
those blessings with the less fortunate in this world.

On one occasion when I was in one
of the worst slums (tugurios or barrios bajos) in the city of Manizales,
Colombia I was caught in a torrential downpour. I pressed tightly
against the wall of one of the slum shacks hoping that the small
overhang of the roof would keep a bit of the rain off me. The door to
the shack opened and an old woman appeared and invited me to step inside
and get out of the rain. "Thank you, Senora," I said, "but I really do
not want to disturb you." "No problem," she responded and again invited
me in. I stepped inside this little dwelling, about nine feet wide by
nine feet long, barely large enough for a bed and a small table. It was
the epitome of poverty. The woman looked ancient, dressed in black and
looked like she was only skin and bones. I wondered how she managed to
live under the conditions I envisioned from her surroundings so I said
to her, "Senora, I am a college teacher. You and I will never meet
again. I would like to tell my students about persons like you who live
under the most trying circumstances. May I ask you several personal
questions? Would you help me inform my students about how you live?"

She studied me for a few
moments and responded, "Si senor." My first question was "How old are
you?" "72" "Do you live alone?" "Yes." "How do you survive? How do you
get the income to pay your rent, purchase food and other necessities?"
She quietly said "I am a whore." "How much do you charge?" "Whatever I
think I can get. Sometimes ten cents, some times more." "How many times a
week do you have visitors?" "Not too often, three, four, five times. It
varies." "Is that enough to live on?" "Barely."

Then with emotion she said
"Mister, when you tell your students about me tell them that this is not
the way I thought I would live when old." Then, with emphasis and
almost shouting she said "But I have the right to survive!" [Pero yo
tengo el derecho de sobrevivir!] "Tell your students not to judge me.
They have no right to judge me. If they think this is not what an old
lady should be doing have them find a way to help me. But do NOT judge
me. I do what I have to do to survive and I HAVE THE RIGHT TO SURVIVE!"

I apologized for having
disturbed her and, passing a bit of money to her, I assured her that my
students will be deeply touched at her situation and would fully
understand her feelings. The rain having stopped I departed.

From these two stories you can see why I loved the movie "I AM." I have read many of the posts on this site and, while appreciating the 'good feelings and powerful emotions' of many of the individuals posting their thoughts, if this does not lead to action it is merely an 'academic exercise'. Dear Tom Shadyac,

I absolutely love the film. Bruce Cohen is right. Everyone definitely has to see this film, and that is why I am seriously considering to make it a mission to have everyone I come in contact with see it. Imagine if everyone... not even everyone, but enough people see this film and find in it the impetus they need to start a revolution. The change that we're all hoping for just might not be as difficult to attain as we think. I looked at the foundation section of this website and am glad to see multiple righteous causes already on the go. However, I hope that they don't just follow the conventional model of what most organizations of the same nature deem as "raising resources" or "raising funds" for the needy and the less fortunate. I cringe every time I see those infomercials on TV asking me for a dollar a day to feed children in Africa dying of hunger. I would think, "Are you telling me that without this piece of metal or paper that we call 'money,' those hungry children would not get to eat. Just get the food over there d*mnit! As children of God, those kids are naturally entitled to food, no questions asked. With or without money, they should be eating!" It's actually the very existence of MONEY that's crippling our society today. The key thing that would heal the disease that you talk about in the movie is another word that also starts with 'm' and ends in 'y' but a bit longer. "Mentality." We need a new mentality. A mentality that's not crippled by money or the corrupt system that dominates our world today. Any charitable effort that merely follows such a system is bound to fail because money is a finite illusion. It spells out a very sad statement: "Without money you die!" That is why I humbly hope and suggest that this wonderful thing that you have started will go a different direction that would defy and have nothing to do with money at all. I know it sounds radical and even impossible, but I really see no other way. The minute we associate any monetary value to life, we've destroyed it. We are God's heirs. Every single one of us. We are all entitled to food, clothing, shelter and good health. We inherently don't need money to have all these things. To work on a charitable cause that still demands money is to say that we agree with the corrupt system. It is like saying, "Yes, these children dying every 6 seconds in Afirca do need money, this man-made piece of metal or paper, to survive." Is that the kind of future we want? Money is a testament to how humanity has forgotten to simply give and take as necessary for all to survive. Hence, the change that we all should strive for should only involve love and a genuine desire to suffice everyone's need for a good, simple and happy life. NO MONEY. PERIOD. I hope that this is the direction that the whole I AM franchise is going. We don't need to raise resources. They're there. We just need to get them to those who need them and that can only be done successfully without this ridiculous monetary system that we're all born into. I hope that this is the kind of action that everyone is willing to participate in. One that seeks to raise awareness instead - awareness of how to develop a different moneyless democracy. I'm not sure how the I AM Foundation and its affiliates work, but I'm sure they have good intentions. I only ask that you hear out my suggestion. Lastly, please know again that I love the film and think that you're a noble man for all the choices you've made, however critical this message may sound. It is not meant as a criticism at all but merely a suggestion. Pardon me as I just tend to rant when I'm passionate about something. Godbless.

Big, Huge impact. I felt the Eureka! It all made sense.

Wow did I ever have it wrong.

It is about connecting with people, really connecting with them. Others do not make the effort, we must. Find that in you which is your fondest desire and make it real in your daily life.

Mine has been to be an RN as I said in my Hello post to this forum. I deeply desire to give back to humanity using my intelligence and life as best I can.

The difference between Tom's Father and all the other Dads I have seen and known is he connects with his kids. That is unique and a real gift. I hope most of us can emulate that to our children.

Insiring others is hard, your movie makes it look nearly effortless, I hope I can do half as well. I hope I can reach a few people. I have shared this on my facebook, and had friends do the same.

1) It's given me hope for mankind…that a cap will be placed on 'allowed wealth for one person'

Why more hope?….because the Science in it has also lessened the need for spiritual experiences for people to accept how incredibly important everything we each decide to do really is….

2) Having taight elementary schhol….I do hope that the film will be offered FREE to all elementary schools across America…4th grade is the best time to reach kids., in moral development….

Perhaps a version aimed at kids can also be produced? MOST ESPECIALLY a version with real kids' heroes ….wealthy ones…choosing to get rid of their mental illness of hoarding money and stuff, too?

I am ALL in as welll! In February 2012, I realized it was time to let my "old" life go, step out of my comfort zone and decide to be a conduit of change for the Universe (aka God). I quit my high paying job to start my own business so I can have the freedom and flexibiliy to remain available to help create societal change, promoting greater integrity in the business world. By an interesting and unexpected chain of events, I found myself at the "I can do it" conference in San Jose, Mar. 17th and 18th where I saw you speak and first learned of "I AM".

As a person who has lived her life leading and teaching by example , I was profoundly inspired by your willingness to let go of the material items in your life and focus on that which truly matters. I have been compelled to personally ask you these questions:

"How can I be of service to this cause in an active way to help your message get to the masses?" "How can this message be brought to corporate america in such a way that it impacts change on a business level?"

I'll be asking these same questions to powerful leaders in various business industries because I believe that with the number of hours we adults spend working, there is a direct correlation to how we are expected to act at work and how that influences our personal lives and integrity.

I'd love to have a similar audience with you to discuss this concept so I can create a plan toward change.

I happened to catch the last hour of I AM on Oxygen a couple of weeks ago. It was on the same night that a documentary on Hippies from the 80's who went off grid in the West was shown on my PBS station. I haven't been able to get either of these fabulous works out of my mind since. Last year I saw a flock of about 15 sparrows attacking a Black Bird who had one of their own in it's claws. I thought, why would the whole flock try to save the one bird....what did they have to gain from it? We have been taught Survival of the Fittest, but that never seemed right to me. I volunteer with special needs children here in Grand Rapids. They have given me so many lovely moments that I cherish. Egalitarian Democracy sounds right to me.

Thank you Tom Shaydac for this spectacular documentary. It is comforting to know that I am not alone in my outlook on this Earthbound existance. I have been raving to everyone I come in contact with that they absolutely have to see it.

This movie has truly impacted my life. It spoke to my heart in such a way that I feel compelled to be involved. I am on a spiritual journey right now and walking to find my purpose in life. I am currently a college student and a single mother. I am unsure of what direction I am headed yet there have been many coincidences lately that have shown me that life is so much bigger than what mainstream America believes it to be. This movie spoke to this "bigness" in a way that was simple and easy to follow. I want to be a part of this movement and become involved in any way at all. It is frustrating to me that college is so expensive and so many people are struggling to get by when like this movie portrayed the millionaires are living the life of luxury! It really is sad. I recently watched a special on India and I was amazed to see how the slums were right in the back yard of all the skyscrapers and rich people. How do people miss that or ignore that? Yet I am no better because I have more than enough and could be doing so much more. This movie just lit the fire to set out on a new journey just like Tom. Thank you once again! You are doing amazing things in my life!!

I just watched the movie and it really did a great job of expressing what I've been sorting through during my "mid life crisis".

As a father and husband dedicated to providing for my family I've been struggling with finding the balance between my duties vs. trying to not get caught up in the lie of the consumeristic construct of our society. I've recognized that the game society says we should all be playing is a path to nowhere, but need to do well enough in the corporate world to support my family.

As a family we've downsized our home and individually I've made a career decision to leave the more lucrative financial services industry for the utility industry where there is a real focus of being part of the community.

These were small steps and didn't completely get me to a place where I could say I was happy that I was out of the game and on the right path.

What I loved about the movie was the compelling depiction of the issue - the lie that the money game of consumerism is the answer when it's really the problem - and probably more importantly the simplicity of the solution: You can make a difference by doing every little thing you do each day with love. It's so empowering.

My struggle in the past has been trying to solve this multivariate equation of getting off the merry-go-round but still being "successful" enough to support my family financially. How could I be part of doing something to help the world with all it's issues, with all it's injustice and all it's poverty, etc. when I had to play the game to support my family.

As I'd think through the things I could do to provide something meaningful that would make a difference I'd quickly get overwhelmed. I'm working 10 to 12 hours everyday, I have 2 hours of commute time, etc. how will I have time to do something more - I'd be exhausted thinking about solutions and would end up feeling defeated and overwhelmed.

The uplifting feeling I got from the simple revelation that I can make a difference in every little thing I'm already doing everyday by doing it with love, is great. I feel energized that I CAN actually do something that will matter. Knowing I can bring a little peace and joy to the world by changing HOW I do what I'm already doing is AWESOME!

Thanks so much for helping me see this. For helping me understand I can make a difference without doing anything grand. Thanks, thanks thanks.

I'd also love to hear thoughts from any other folks who are the family bread winners and what you do to balance your working life with being part of the solution. Am I on the right path?

The question is to me/us now. How ? we will see is safe answer I know but my best one at the moment.

Maybe not in a profound life changing way that many express,but changing just the same.

Because I have to start asking myself WHERE that person is. I AM ME! Yes it IS true.

Ironically before this even started I was asking the question? & saying NO ,Not what is wrong ,But what is RIGHT? & how do we add to it or help it progress rather than say how do we fix it .

so much of what is said is how I have raised myself ,we ARE obligated to pass it on.we are connected. That farmer was right! IT is Alive! & WE are part of it.

I am glad you are getting some of your questions answered! The end you saw was truly there & you were allowed a pass this time & took full advantage of it .The message you send I guess I understand because it is about honesty! about the small part really making a difference.

I did take something from this because even though I understand the inner workings of my brain all to well & I too have recovered many,many times from illness & live with IT as a way of Life.

The connection between the heart & the brain was never as obvious to me as when I saw the discussions in this.I would love to go through those tests as I change with my aura & my i.q. changes or adjusts & my mind body play their survival games,as I call them. This film has had a profound impact on my life. A friend shared her DVD with me and I have watched it three times. I pick up more information with each viewing and find it so inspirational !

I have worked with people with severe and persistant mental illness for 27 years. I have been appalled, upset and angered by the way my clients have been portrayed in the media. Even worse, by the way they are often treated by the public, including other healthcare professionals. I have often wondered, "What can I do to change this ? How do I bring out empathy and compassion in others ?"

Your film has given me a starting point. I have also begun reading some of the books by the authors interviewed in the film. I never heard of some of them but I am so glad I learned of their work through you. This is knowledge the whole world should embrace. What a wonderful place it could be if we do. Tom and Staff, I work in the personal growth field, following (and finishing my certificate) Linda Kohanov's Approach (The tao of Equus and more...) and in our work we use ALL the information you have given in this Doc, from emotions as information, the energy field of the heart, the Mirror neurons etc. I am currently back in my country, Italy where I will be starting to SPREAD the love for one aonother throught the way of the horse. I'd love to be able to use you documentary for showing at workshops for all the people that thinks that what i do (and HOW i do it) is just new age bullshit...

Unfortunately as of now here in Italy very few books have been translated that can give me the scientific support I'd love to have (Sheldrake and his morphic filed theory being one of them). Please keep me posted or keep this forum posted as how the translation (or subtitle) process goes.

there is so much need for scientific return on so many thing we do, as it really is that most of the pople out there still run on the old program: "If I dont see it I dont believe it". Luckly working with horses gives anybody the immediate feedback that they need to believe, but it is very much based on underliying stuff that we all know exist but you can't actually see.

And Linda's new book "the power of the herd" will be out in the fall and talk all about how Darwing was totally misinterpreted and his concepts used for benefiting the power of the fittest over collaboration, that we know now will never work. Collaboration is paramount in every step of life, makes things easier and life less painful.

keep up the good work, and if you ever wants to come to Italy to do lectures let me knwo I'll make it happen.

Hi Tom,

A couple of days ago, I was browsing through Pay-Per-View and stopped on the movie, "I AM" and watched it. WOW!! It is wonderful!!! This documentary "spoke" to me personally with such clarity and purpose. Your experience mirriors mine - I too had a brain trauma last year. They say I AM "a walking miracle". And I AM grateful for this extended life!

I didn't know who directed the movie, "Evan Almighty", but now I do, and it's a movie that I LOVE and watched over and over during my recovery. Like an idiot savant. It makes me happy!! You have such a GIFT from God. The story exudes JOY that our God personally talked to Evan and loved him despite his lack of faith. The message, "Acts of Random Kindness". the ARK, is the beginning of wisdom. We have to do our part and get on the ARK, side by side.

My purpose.... to write children's books from a perspective that's never been done before....I them "put on the shelf" for years because I didn't listen to God. But I AM still here to write them. What a blessing! Thank you for your inspiring journey and for "re-awakening" my dreams.

Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful documentary. I was studying for an American literature exam when I encountered Tom's movie, and I was surprised how Emerson had talked about this Unity of the Universe in 1836 and how this idea has dissapeared in our libraries and forgotten ever since.

And it strengthened my wish to be part of this, to do sthg meaningful with my life and to help people because although I might not be able to change the world (what I usually hear when I talk about my wish to work for the UN or any other global organization) if everybody did just a lil bit then we could all be this ocean of the last wonderful metaphor.

I do not know if you read these posts, but if you do, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the impact your film has had on me. It not only brought me back from the brink of hopelessness (at the state of affairs on planet earth) but has also renewed my faith in the goodness of the human spirit. Your story was especially poinant... for many years, I have struggled with certain challenges that have been the direct result of a brain injury. I have had difficulty finding my place in this world since the accident, even though I have been on a quest for Truth most of my life. Much of what you shared in the film was not new information; however, the way in which it was presented really struck a chord deep within my heart. It rattled me back into the land of the living. Everything matters. Every thought, every word, every action... thank-you for the reminder that there is no such thing as a small act. To have the courage to take a stand for the beauty and the majesty of life... to allow the heart to fully open and embrace everything... even the suffering, has reignited my spirit. My brain injury had led me down a long dark road to a place where I was feeling overwhelmed by the madness in our world (wetico) and not knowing what I could do about it. And though I may not know exactly what I can offer the world, I know that my being here matters. A friend shared this film with me a week ago. Since then, I have watched it three times and have told everyone I know about it. I bought a copy so I could share it with others. I live in a small town on the Western Slope in Colorado. I saw I AM in Portland, Ore., during the day with a girlfriend. I took my 2 sons to see it that same night. When it stopped playing in Portland I saw it again in Salem, a 45 min drive. Then I ordered 3 copies of the DVD and gave 2 away with the request to the recipients to share them far and wide. I've had screenings at my home. Everyone I've shown it to or given it to or has seen it somehow without my help (!) has been blown away.

A week ago I was driving down I-5 south for a meeting I didn't want to go to and saw a car next to me with two decals. The first said, "No Bad Days" and the second said, "I AM. I GOT IT." I had my DVD in my car, intending to loan it to a co-worker, and so I held it up so the driver could see it. He got a big grin on his face and gave me a huge thumbs up. We just drove there, side by side, at 60MPH grinning like idiots. I took the next exit and got a flat tire. In a safe place. I missed the boring meeting. :) I have AAA. My tow truck driver was AWESOME. When he dropped me off at the tire center (I drive a Mini and there's no room for a spare), I asked him if I could loan him a movie, and would he please mail it back to me. He said, "Sure, I'll mail it back!" I gave him the DVD. Who knows where all of this will lead?

Tom,

During the recession my husband experienced perpetual lay-offs in the construction industry. We have dealt with the issues of bankruptcy and now foreclosure, two issues I never thought would happen to us. I would hear those bankruptcy commercials, and think to myself, who are these people that they are advertising to? Now I know, there by the grace of God go I. These lessons were never something I would have asked for, but now that I have experienced I realize how much I did not realize I did not know. How easy you can go from being seemingly self-sufficient, to relying on government programs just to get by. Being held hostage to the whims of Wall Street corruption that first sucked out the jobs, and then sucked out the homes, you realize how dependent we have become to Wall Street and consumerism. Due to necessity we have learned to garden, and cut back on material possessions. My marriage has been strained, my faith in government, that allowed these abuses, fractured, and my fortitude tested as an individual knowing that giving up is not an option as I have children to lead.

I used to sit in my living room wondering how I could paint and decorate it. Then one day, after believing I had done right by getting married, getting a house and then having kids, found myself serving the children dinner and simply not having enough food to go around. The transition was painful, the lessons learned magical.

Your time, dedication, research and artistic expression, documented a film that could have come straight from my heart. Love is really all we need. Freedom for the infection in our brains that has lead us to believe our importance is based on the appearances we can keep up based on our purchasing power.

I aspire to one day be a history teacher, it is this documentary I plan to show, to show the interconnection of our world, our people, our lives.

I saw the film over the weekend and was moved. Especially because in my office is a Patch Adams movie poster signed by Patch who is a good friend of mine. (You can call him and run my name by him before you delete this communication!) I am a physician who has been working on a vision of bringing care and compassion back to healthcare. I also have been involved in the same insanity you were -- the belief that having more money would make me happier. Last year on my radio show I created a simple project -- Candy and a Can, asking my listeners to not only collect candy but ask for a can of food for their local food pantry. Being on XM, the idea only got so far. I am interested in using that idea but your movie sparked my creativity to go further. You've already got the structure in place.

I have two ideas to raise money (which I would gladly give to your foundation) and I need to speak to somebody involved with the foundation, but I can't find a contact number and Google hasn't been much help. How can I reach somebody for a short conversation about two ways I feel might help?

To be completely honest everything in this movie is what i had already believed in based on where my path in life has guided me. The reaction that i would often get when telling people what i believed in so strongly, they looked at me like i was a crazy person. Especially when i would say that we are all living in extravagance and that greed was taking over the world. I am glad that i was able to watch the documentary and learn that i am not just a crazy person, that other people do believe as i do, that the way we are living in today's society is the complete wrong way. I just wish we could show this film to children in schools, let them see what the real world is about. Show them that greed, competition, and extravagance are not important, that love for thy neighbor, love for other life forms, and love for yourself is what truly makes the world go round. Perhaps Tom Shadyac should go around to schools personally and speak to the students, because seeds need nourishment to grow into a strong plant that takes its part in the world community. Get the message out there. Love love, don't hate life.

I watched this movie when it was screened in my school and loved it, and when you came in person, I challenged you on what seemed to me like an overly persnoal emphasis of your analysis. (although great work overall). I would just suggest this mind-blowing book that backs my case for collective action and system-wide transformation. I still believe this is the only way real change will come, as much as the path you seek is also valid.

Dear Tom,

I enjoyed the film.

It resonated with me on many levels and I do feel that you have experienced that which many people in our society are currently - we are knee deep in shift. Awakening to possiblity of our human spirit and fulfilling our true higher purpose. Its just below the surface.

I gained clarity in an emergency plane crash landing in December....when faced with one's mortality, shift happens quickly. A new story is emerging and I have learnt that we are not isolated bodies but complicated organisms with skill sets that we were not even aware of. Time for stagefront in a more alert state.

A different reality is emerging and this is reflected in the turmoil all around us.

In the end, we are our brothers keeper....the message is love. If we can learn and understand this fact, there is a chance for us.

Follow your path - manifest what you were meant to be. This film is an inspiration. Connections are being made everywhere in projects, countries etc. Working together anything is possible.

Dear Tom,

Thought I liked the film until I had nightmares 2 nights running about that man's eyeball being slit open. Did you really need that particular example of what's wrong with the world? Does having nightmares show that I am really connected to others? I hope not to learn this lesson that way. Please strip this scene. You have other examples that work better. I too left Hollywood to persue a life that made my heart sing. We left the house on the hill, the pool and the palm trees and ended up in Chicago where my husband teaches kids to read and I work at the Bodhi Spiritual Center where I teach kids and adults how to tap into their divine truth. I also help create and support Sangha circles. We are moving closer to who we are here to be which is very cool and rewarding. Some days I think I should be out there saving the world, but I have to remember that the world does not need to be saved, but loved and instead of going "out there" I can just look under my nose and see who is there that needs loving.

Grateful to Tom and Company for using their powers for good. I will be sharing this film with my community.

The message of your film is in harmony with my own heart song. Thank you!

How does a film impact one? The message is one many know, but few were able to share in such an accomplished fashion. If Tom wondered why he became who he was, and why he made the money he did, perhaps it is that it was as it should have been, without his profile in society, would his word have ever gotten out? And if he had not had the accident, would he have ever questioned who he was? Nothing happens but for a reason, we are all part of the ongoing process of who we are.

I tend to reflect from time to time on others that have reached a pinnacle in their lives where they can from that point see out far into the universe and discover more about who they are. It is from this vantage point we can climb higher to new pinnacles and thus we evolve, become more intune with who we are and our connectiveness to all things.

If we find the openess, and deliver ourselves into the oneness, it is that we need to use this, not for ourselves but for the oneness. We cannot say we disconnect ourselves or anyone is disconnected, it is that they just do not know they are connected, they are blinded by society's scientific brainwashing of being individuals; what each of us do in awareness of the connectivity is for ourselves and for others, it just happens. The more we exercise this connectivity of oneness, the more we find we are delighted, elated in our every gesture outward towards others.

If find this movie a saving grace; giving me the opportunity to share this with all I know need to discover the oneness, to discover where they stand, that they are not alone and opening their eyes to it, shall bring them closer to the peace, the love that ultimately surrounds them but they are unaware of. For this I know I can elevate the pain of fear, desperation and alonenss in a more expediiant fashion; giving me time to reach out more; this movie creates for me a bigger, broader stepping stone; getting me others faster, so they in turn can discover Hope, joy and love. We are all doing our part, Tom did his well, now I can do mine easier.

I LOVED it! I was already on that path and have many books, and have watched many documentaries that are similar ( sort of ) but havent felt I really understood ( although I wanted to ) until now. Would ditto be a tacky response? My best friend and business partner suggested I watch this movie and it so happened I had access to the Oprah network that Super Soul Sunday. While she and I had a pretty clear idea of our goals, our goals are a bit grander now, to include producing programs that move people to action, like I Am, The Secret, and others.

I agree with Christymm. As a family we have been exploring the idea of energy and connectedness for a few years now but this was by far the best documentary I have ever seen on the subject. I have given a copy of I AM to my son who is a Special Education teacher here in Chicago.

Currently he's educating young men with behavior issues and various forms of disability. He's using I AM as a teaching tool and I'm guessing the results will be awesome. It's interesting that my son was on a very different path many years ago and then he decided he could make a change for others. I'm certain that this documentary is going to make a difference to a few teens that grew up thinking they don't matter.

Thank you for putting old world ideas into a teaching tool for the next generation. I plan on posting the changes he'll hopefully see in his students!

You had a similar reaction to this documentary as I did. I was so moved that I wanted to run out and do something. I, too, have been on this path of awareness and feel this documentary brings much together in a succinct way. More than that, though, it is inspiring.

I want as many people as possible to see it also. I would love it if Tom would do a "tour" with the documentary and coordinate with local social change groups to have a moderated discussion afterwards. It would be a way of bringing the like-minded people in a community together to keep the consciousness growing.

I watched the film with my two older sons who are 15 and 17 years old and it was an incredible experience to share that time with them. Being a First Nations person (from Attawapiskat First Nation - lots of media attention), I grew up with a lot of the teachings that were outlined in your film, especially around being interconnected (All our relations).

I too am a filmmaker, and recently graduated from the Ryerson University Masters program in Documentary Media (2010 - awarded a Gold Medal for my thesis work). I created my masters feature film entitled "Remembering Inninimowin" about my journey of reclaiming my first language, Cree. I would love to share this peice of work with Tom Shadyac, if possible. It is available through V Tape Distributions here in Toronto, so I would be honoured if he watched it.

My studies were focused on using media as a tool of empowerment and approach to Indigneous community (in regards to honouring traditional knowledge and protocol). My written thesis was submitted in my language, in Cree syllabics. I was the first student to ever submit a written thesis in an Indigenous language at Ryerson.

Anyway, when I saw that Tom volunteers at a local college, I was inspired to continue doing the work that I have been doing in my community. I too speak at international Indigneous conferences and in local classrooms sharing my journey of the making of my film. I made this film with virtually no funds (student film) and my older children assisted as production assistants, and my community helped in the overall production of it. I also had a traditonal Medicine Woman as an external advisor as well. It was an amazing experience!

I love films, but feel that media can be used on a whole other level, such as what Tom did with "I Am". As a tool to explore, critic and share. So Chi Mee'Kwetch for your inspirational work and for sharing what you have so honestly and openly.

I feel Mr. Shadyac stepped out in faith and and delivered a great and lasting message.

I don't think that this is the last that we will hear of Tom Shadyac. I feel someone with his seeming sincere and connected heart will be bringing us other beautiful documentaries. If Tom and George Clooney teamed up, I feel like that might create even more insight to a clearer thought process and not thinking from our brian but with our hearts. I just finished watching the movie that I taped from Super Soul Sunday. I'm so excited it was shown on TV. Thank you! My heart is glowing. My soul was touched. Why? Because it really helps me to know there are others out there with a platform that are bringing the message to the people. And what a beautiful job was done conveying the message. Woo hoo!

My post on my FB page yesterday was this:

"Everywhere I go I get to BE Love. I am love. In my car, I am love. In the store, I am love. When I'm grumpy or tired, I'm still love. At my core, I'm love.. just like you."

Back on 11.8.11 my post was simply

"I am love."

I am love, but sometimes I feel a little lonely in my beliefs. I sometimes feel like the weird one, even though I'm confused at how everyone else doesn't see what's going on. The mentally ill, can't see that they are mentally ill which makes me look like the ill one.

So, you can imagine this movie had quite an impact on me. I feel understood. I feel like I'm not alone in this mission. I feel inspired. As I watched, I wanted to jump up and down and yell: Yes!

The whole thing- I could feel you! I get it. Even the concept of no one should be more elevated than the other, we are all brothers and sisters. That's exactly how I feel. At some point we, as a society, chose to elevate some people for what they do as their jobs. Can you imagine accountants or taxi drivers being chased down for their autographs because they had a reputation for being the most gifted at their jobs? Why not? What is the difference? I don't understand celebrity at all. If anything, I empathize with those who find themselves living in it. I can only imagine how it would amplify what needs healing inside.

I related to many of the feelings shared in your story, Tom. Five years ago I had a fat house on the golf course, two small businesses, 4 rentals and a second home in Tahoe. My drive, however, came from feeling unworthy. I created a facade hoping that I'd finally feel that I had arrived. My busy, vacuum of a life, was empty. I was dying inside. My life was inauthentic. My soul was screaming. I could literally feel a scream underneath my skin everyday. I could barely handle that. Then I became ill. My organs felt like they were shutting down. I began dropping weight rapidly and almost died. 17 pounds in nine days, until I was under 100 pounds. The doctors couldn't explain it.

I can! My soul was done with that life. My body and mind would not get better so I lost the houses and the businesses, and in the process, found me. The real me. The one who is love. Yey!

I'm still healing the disharmony my prior life created within my body. Not to say that I enjoy what I'm dealing with, but the lessons are so profound that I've experienced a gift. My eyes and heart were opened.

As a result, I live with my mom these days because it's necessary. What I had left of my "stuff" I put in a storage unit. And for the last year I've been consumed with the feeling to purge it all. I just want to feel lighter. If everything changes in my life and I could buy it all again- I don't know if I want to own a lot of "stuff." It just doesn't seem to matter anymore. That's not depression talking, that's freedom talking.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this film. I am a part of this movement in consciousness and I'm delighted that such a beautiful film can represent for LOVE.

I've decided to lock it down on my DVR so I can use it as an anchor. Whenever I feel a little lonely or lost I know I've got something I can watch to remind me of who I really am.

Oh Cooked--there is no logic to fighting for peace, and there seems to be no end to the refusal to grasp that the non-concept of 'if you kill me, I would have to kill you back,' belies all reason. I am dreading the coming together fight being planned for my hometown Tampa in August. Another bloodbath of words to stop and reverse any progress, and split apart any consensus about moving forward together. And then the other half will bring their own round of dividing us asll economically as well..

Sympathy and Empathy are imperative in order to get the depth of growth the movie speaks of. However,
I do not believe all individuals are capable hence personality disorders like narcissism. The mental illness of wanting and living to accumulate more than what is needed (ego based) could actually be for many considered dual diagnosis therefore some simply will be incapable. Further, we can only truly connect when we lose ourselves in God/higher power... only then we will find true happiness. I love the movie and believe everyone needs to see it minimum two times.

I found this to be an outstanding point of view, that I have recently been exploring myself.
From my personal standpoint, i feel that we are all the same, having all been born on the same planet.
I was disturbed however, by the sponsor on the OWN network showing, for "Megalomart" showing a mother
Attempting to coerse her little child out of her shopping cart to make room for more "stuff". I guess this was exactly the point Tom was trying to make.
I wasnt alive when Roosevelt uttered those famous words about fear, but i'm convinced that fear is the biggest enemy and motivator of the human race. Unfortunately it is not the correct emotion that we should focus on.
This life is my journey, this journey is my life. Everthying matters.

I watched I AM this morning on OWN, unfortunately I didn't get to see it from the beginning. What I did see made me think of a lot of parallel teachings from the Bible.

I AM got me thinking of a follow up production that relates I AM to a Biblical perspective. So the idea is to relate points made throughout the show to teachings in the Bible. I did see the part where you show where Jesus says it is better to give than receive, but there is a lot more.

It is amazing that this book written so long ago has truths that I AM presents and that science is proving.

This movie has had a major impact on me. It has made me look at my life in a whole new perspective and made me requestion basic assumptions that I taken for granted my whole life. As a teacher, I know that this movie will impact the way I communicate with my students and really shift the focus from the self to the community. It also made me rethink my purpose in life. Teaching was always a natural choice for me and is something that I do enjoy but is it my passion? I highly doubt...so what is my purpose? How many of us aren't actually fulfilling our purpose due to the pressure of society to get a secure job, get a house, a car etc... I can just imagine the eye rolls I'd get for leaving teaching due to my great pension...but it's ridiculous to think that you should stay in a job because of the money they'll give you after 30 years of doing something you don't like..how did this become something so fantastic?

So overall, this movie has basically screwed with my head (but in a good way) :)

I feel the message in the doc is profound. But it also strikes me that there are other ways to deal with the luck we receive. There are so many people, like myself, for whom that amount of money would be life changing, but that does not mean it would make me happy granted but the pressure the weight on me and my family would allow me to breath and see the other options.

I am struck by the story Tom tells of being in the big house and the movers leaving and realizing he is not happy. But there was a choice there. When you are struggling, working two jobs back to back, there's no chance to pop your head up and see what choices are out there.

Right now I am under employed, I don't think money or things will make me happy but I know it would allow me to help my family, whom I currently help and support, more. It would allow me to visit the man I love who is working night and day in another city. It would allow him to have one job not two etc. It's hard for me to reconcile what I know the message is, that things don't make us happy, the work we do as humans does with the real need I have for a substantial amount of money to right my ship.. It would make me happy and allow to me breath.

Dear Tom-

Fate is solely responsible for bringing me to watch this movie, as I was thumbing through my "On Demand" list, and I will now do everything that I can to spread the word.

At just 21 years old with and not even out of school, this film captures all the things that I question and believe with my whole being- and most importantly, thanks to your brilliance, makes it understandable and relatable to everyone and anyone! Not just psychologically-inclined minds that are already on this thought path.

About to graduate with a degree in musical theatre and dance, I have been feeling this pull recently to NOT move to New York, jump on the industry's conveyor belt, and dedicate the beginning of my life to surviving in American society- but to mission work, or world travels.. something to further nourish how I'm going to create dance/theatre/music- any and all art- with the purpose of teaching the world about these "problems" and spreading the cure of love.

Of course, the abandonment of both society's notions of "success" and the need of money to survive is an extremely scary thing- and growing almost impossible to even comprehend to my generation. However, your film is exactly the inspiration that I need.. that every generation of the world needs.

I have just finished watching the film, finally feel as if something makes sense. I have often felt that we are all connected it was wonderful to see scientific evidence.

I have found a significant change in myself from changing how I think about my needs. I start at my funeral and work backwards. What would be said about me? She was a long time renter never owned a house, managed to make a living just getting by, had debt and subsequently could not afford a lavish funeral. NO! none of that would be said. It would not matter. Who I was as person, who I connected with, who I loved that is all that would be spoken of. If it's not important after we die, then, Why do we let it separate us in life? We work so hard to accumulate, own property, and fill it with stuff. All the time we spend working to get that stuff, takes us further and further from family, friends and life. This helps direct my thinking when I think I "need" something. What I need cannot be bought, connection with others, and love is all we need. Thank you Tom for making an inspiring film.

I have not been impacted by the film. I am disabled and can't really leave the house much, but after reading the conclusions that tom came to from this film and looking over the website, I see that he is passionate and understanding of the same thing I am.

So, before stumbling into Tom's revelation, I want to share my own and let you decide if I am "worthy" to help here.

I am still recovering from a horrific suicide attempt after 10 years of existential hell, divorce, etc. being jailed then put into the worst part of nashvilles ghetto to be abused and threatened 24/7. I sensed there was a reason that I survived this whole time, but it was hard to understand until recently when I finallly Finally got stabilized and am actually able to voice what my "beautiful mind" so to speak has been dying to say since i first started having conscious experiences with this diseased culture we call society.

so i started to write. and after the writing i got invited to apply to speak at ted.com... after receiving a little realistic validation for my half-stated theory/proposal of a solution to poverty/violence, I saw a contest google was holding for the "sequel" to google plus... well i gave them more than they really wanted to hear but we'll see how that turns out in a few days... finally when i was exhausted and ready to give up, i saw that Tom had come out with a documentary (which was a big "Really?!!"--thats another story but i knew he always had this in him) in a side note on a website that had nothing to do with anything important to me or this project, yet it was enough to lead me to this forum which I feel like is the avenue for me to make the biggest difference in this world (so far).

I was thinking I should come up with a fancy response to your question about how your film I AM has impacted me, but then I figured that was exactly what one of the points of the film was, tame my ego and tune up my heart! So hear is my response from the heart, it made me laugh, it made me cry, but most important it made me want to be a better person. I believe this film will move people to action, for myself, I was thinking of volunteering in palliative care, and now I know from watching this film, that this is one way I can use my skills to help others in their time of need! thanks for making the film, I eagerly await your book!

I received an email from the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, VA concerning upcoming events and fundraisers. A showing of I AM was held this month, sponsored by CHKD, at the Naro Theater in Norfolk, VA. After researching the movie, I invited my son and his girlfriend to attend since both of them have strong personal & professional interests in literature, creative writing and film. The film was inspiring! We had a great discussion on numerous concepts presented in the film during the drive home. I personally want to learn more about the philosophies of the esteemed individuals interviewed in the film.

My generation was going to change the world and fight the establiishment. Yet the spirit has died down. Our society has become materiialistic and self-centered, perhaps because we have been given too much. We are more intersted in the lives of those on reality TV, who we view from the comfort of our sofas. We have lost focus on the world around us. Nothing is personal any more. With the troubling economy, we as a society are becoming increasingly depressed. We need to pull together as human beings and help each other. Through group efforts, the diversity of ideas can provide the means to conquer problems that we cannot solve individually.

Although I am very worried about the unrest, lack of tolerance, and the world-wide economic issue, I am thankful, on this Thanksgiving Day, to have clean water to drink, food on the table, shelter, lack of fear that someone might shoot me because of my religious beliefs or ethnicity. So many individuals throughout the world do not have these riches. I hope to contribute in changing the world for the better.

A group of 6 or so senior men got together to discuss the implications of the documentary this Spring. After a spirited discussion, we decided that the central message of the documentary for us was that we have too many competitive stories in this culture and not enough collaborative ones, especially those that promote equity or address the disadvantaged. We therefore decided to develop some criteria for collaborative stories in organizations and then support and publicize those stories as we find them, and perhaps give out a 'certificate of collaboration' (modeled on Food Alliance or LEED certification). We're still refining our criteria and assessing their reliability using some sample organizations (Panera Cares Cafe and local Portland OR non-profits). So far, we are looking in four places for collaborative stories: organizational goals, activities, decision-making, and language/metaphor. Some of the most interesting collaborative stories we've found are not the ones in charitable non-profits, but those that exist within for-profits or in government. Thanks for making I AM and prompting us into action!

Haven't seen the film, but watched Mr. Shadyac on Oprah. I guess in my life I was luck, in that my parents raised me with a belief system, and that is God. I was raised to believe that there is more to life than material possessions. I was raised with the belief, that we should be thankful for what God give us in life, and that if he wishes to give us more, he will. There is a purpose to everything in God's devine plan for each of us. He may put us in a certain life or situation to teach us, or help our soul through its own evolution. I grew up in a family of 6 children. Our parents were good providers. Mind you, we did not have a butler or maid, or a rolls royce, but so what, we were a very close and loving family. I was thankful for loving parents, a roof over our heads, clothes on our back and food on the table. I was also very happy with the fact that my parents were people of high integrity, and they never sold out to money or power. I guess this is why I have always disliked people whose main goal in life is money and material posessions. There is nothing wrong in this, except whe one loses sight of the real purpose in life. When we stand before our God, which ever God that might be, our material posessions or fancy titles from this world will not matter one iota. What will matter is the impact we have had on our fellow man, and how we treated people. Mr Shadyac, I am glad you finally realised this in life. Perhaps this is why God took you on the path he did. Some of us realize sooner than others, but what ever it takes. God waits patiently for all of us.

For me it, both the movie and Tom's story were very inspiring. It's a great message and although I was already familiar with the message from a philosophical standpoint, I enjoyed the focus on the science. At this time in our country's history and in our world history it is so easy to feel discouraged, frustrated and angry at people who are focused on fear, power, ego, etc. And it is also easy to feel small. To me, the making of this film means that the snowball has taken shape and that there is a community of aware, focused people.

I watched the movie yesterday and it impacted me in a profound way. I thought that the way I thought of life was wrong. Now I realize that the point of view; is the point of view of the universe. Maya Angelou says, "We are more alike than unlike." This is very true, understanding that people who have hatred, jealously, envy are damaged human beings. They did not come out of the womb this way. We must have a paradigm shift or else we will be non-existent and empty.

It has been almost a month since I saw the film and it is still speaking to me. I can't wait to buy it & watch it again. I have been watching "What the Bleep" repeatedly b/c it speaks to the same message, but speaks more about quantum physics (something hard to get my mind around). The movie has had a deeply profound effect on me that is still occurring.

I was so encouraged by someone of Tom's wealth giving most of it away now- I loved the yogurt experiment. After reading about much of this over the last 10-12 years now- I can finally say I am starting to get it. The transformation I am experiencing is indescribable! I talk about it just about every day. The love discussed is happening to me... it is wonderful! I feel ever stronger to share my love and vision with my world.

Tom & crew- thank you VERY much for putting this together so beautifully. I look forward to what is next- in your docs & silly movies. I sure hope we can get you to East TN. It's beautiful here in the falll.

I saw this move the day before what would have been my mother's 89th birthday. She passed away early this year, on her own terms, with her strong will intact. I have believed that the essence of one lives on, this move supported that, we are one with the past and will be one with the future. I have been under a low key funk since her death. I walked out of this movie feeling so light. Thanks!

It also made me very hopeful for the future when I saw the research on how humans really are meant to be democratic. That research along with the hope that all this modern technology which connects people has a positive purpose.

I saw the movie today and I was sorry to hear that Mr. Shadyac Sr. passed away. He was so darn cute on the film. My dad passed away last year and he sort of had the same features as Mr. Shadyac. He had to be so proud of his son to be making such an enlightening and thought provoking movie. I didn't catch on to the time frames but I hope his dad was alive to see the movie in its entirety. I loved the movie and I need to see it at home so I don't have to hold in all of the emotions that I had in the theater.

I wondered if drug dealers and people with severe mental illnesses such as bipolar disease or schizophrenia would benefit if we would unite and cooperate more with each other. Maybe these diseases would not be as prevalent as I feel they now are.

When the statement was made, "what's wrong with the world," and the answer was, "I am," I I hope Tom does not feel as strongly about that answer. Maybe he could upgrade to "I care." Corny yes, but many people don't care unless there is something in it for them.

This movie brought to my attention that a great tribute was made to pain and suffering and the courage to endure and conquer evil and fears during hard and seemingly unbearable tribulations as we share love and interconnect with others. Through all of the pain, turmoil and intolerance that we go through, we can be humbled to open our "hearts" and minds to be able to see clearer without the tunnel vision that we cannot break down unless we are put to the test. I feel Mr. Shadyac stepped out in faith and and delivered a great and lasting message.

I don't think that this is the last that we will hear of Tom Shadyac. I feel someone with his seeming sincere and connected heart will be bringing us other beautiful documentaries. If Tom and George Clooney teamed up, I feel like that might create even more insight to a clearer thought process and not thinking from our brian but with our hearts. God bless you Tom and I will keep you and your crew in my prayers.

I actually have not yet seen the film but am very excited to do so. I saw Tom on Oprah and it pumped me up! I went to see this movie this past Sunday in Bellingham, WA. What a great way it was to spend Mother's Day afternoon. I'm still tingling and feeling inspired from the movie and am so grateful to Tom Shadyac and his film crew for bringing to life so much of what I dream about.

We are the ones capable of changing this world and being the vision we see for connection, compassion and love.

I was moved in so many parts of the movie and particularly at the end that really all we need is Love or Love is all we need. I was so stirred in this moment as I remembered a guided meditation I'd participated in last year. The experience was beautiful and wild and one where I allowed myself to really let go and be with what came to me. And what I heard over and over in my meditation was "All you need is love."

I saw the movie in Boise, and it was wonderful to hear Tom speak afterward. I was really touched when he talked of his father and his connection to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. I donated bone marrow for my brother in the early 90's, and he was on a pediatric floor even though he was an adult. It was an experience I will never forget, seeing so many sick children. My husband is now in remission with leukemia, so I think the help given through their foundation to St. Jude's is a great cause. It made me cry when Tom talked of his father and his work to help others! Like father, like son.

I loved this movie and its message. There is so much greed in the world, I truly believe too many are taking more than their fair share and that is why so many are suffering today. There is injustice and that is why we are suffering with the economy, people are going hungry, etc. It was refreshing to learn about Tom, someone who is very successful, but is giving back to so many. His kindness was apparent when he walked into the movie theater, shaking the hand of the man in the wheelchair in front of me. I hope people everywhere see this documentary, and that it reminds us to show compassion toward each other, no matter where we live in the world. This movie is a gift, a blessing--thank you!

I just came back from seeing the movie alone, with 4 other people in the theater (work/school day, midday). It was the 1st time in about a month that I felt a lifting and lightening of my heavy depression. I was very inspired by the scientific evidence of the heart waves being different depending on one's mood, and by the observable magnetic/electronic waves we give off which we perceive from others. All this time it really was true when people were telling us to think positive thoughts. And, of course, we don't have to solve all the problems of the world (which is something that would weigh on me); but because our energy goes out into the world, every act of love and compassion does help the world become more positive. So, the small acts I do from time to time make a difference.

Thank you so much, Tom and team, for creating such a passionate, mind-opening and brain awareness movie! I've been sending positive and happy energy outwards from my heart area for the past 1 3/4 hours!

I have not seen the film yet and will likely not for a while yet as I am in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming. I am excited to hear of it, though, and it sounds like it is right in tune with where "I am" right now. It has been a long time belief of mine that we as a global community have many more similarities than differences. Focusing on what's "right" with our world is much more conducive to our creative energies. It is our natural state of being.

My husband and I are currently doing all we can to manifest our vision of a diverse holistic community complete with a tea/coffee/sandwich shop, bulk herb and whole food store, with meeting rooms for workshops, lectures, classes, etc. for the local community and an online presence for the larger aspect. This is our life's desire and we would like to invite all who would like to share in this vision. We are currently seeking likeminded indivduals and especially those interested in the financial investment opportunity to join us.

I know this sounds hokey, but I assure you we are sincere in our vision. We have put our intentions out to the universe and the universe is responding in a massive way. We have no idea how this will all come together at this point, but the energies are supportive, and far stranger things have been known to happen. We can't do it alone and would love to hear from each of you.

I saw "I Am" with my husband Rob and my friend Bonnie last night in Denver and we all loved it! Beautiful message, great information and awesome energy. We were blessed to have Tom there to answer questions. I got tears at certain points during the movie and when someone stood up and said "thank you" to Tom for creating this movie. I myself didn't have the courage to stand up and ask my question....."how can I get involved with you at the Foundation when it comes to Telluride (or even now)?".

This film has refocused my efforts on what I want my life to be about. I have forced myself through jobs and life experiences that do not make my heart sing. It has caused great discomfort and frustration for me in my life.

Seeing I am is the turn key for me to put my life aspirations into hyper-drive.

I am reshaping my life to help others and do things that make my heart sing and put a huge smile on my face! The more I approach my day with joyful experiences, I not only improve my life but I improve life for people around me!

I am has also validated that there thousands and thousands of other people that hold similar truths that I hold. A truly awe-inspring discovery for me.

I have had a dream of doing something like I am for half my life, and I couldn't be more thankful of Tom's work. Seeing an individual leveraging his talents, connections, and experiences to do this work is just mind blowing! I believe this could be the spark for true transformation as this film spreads its wings to the rest of humanity.

The seeds have been planted and are growing, it is my intention to allow myself to grow the heavens.

I just saw the film in Cambridge and met Tom and Nicole. The film was very
well done and particularly impressive in creating content that enables the
audience to actually feel within themselves the very emotions that the film
identifies as those proving we are wired to care about each other.
Brilliant!!

"I Am" spotlights the problems of greed, economic injustice, and other
problems, then suggests there may be a "point cause" that might be responsible
for the greater amount of socioeconomic malaise. By searching for, then
identifying, that root cause we would be better able to repair or even eliminate
the damage it does.

I feel very connected to Tom, Nicole and the film in that I have spent ten
years of my life identifying that root cause, suggesting how to solve it, then
establishing a foundational infrastructure to impement that solution locally in
Western Mass. You can evaluate my answer at the website of a federally chartered
non-profit organization I founded when the answer was revealed to me as an
epiphany in 1999. Since that time we have garnered the support of local and
federal elected officials, economists, educators, clergy, entrepreneurs, labor

I saw this in Boston on April fool's day with the Q&A with Tom afterwards. I wanted to hug it out with everyone in the theater after it all went down. The vibe that Tom brings was just a light and love that washed over each of us. It was truly wonderful.

I have been disillusioned by my nine and six year old's educational experiences and crabby, bitter and resentful like an angry drunk in the streets yellin' at anyone who is unlucky enough to come within peripheral vision. The I AM tribe are my peeps that I haven't found in my community of Ubermoms. You know the kind.....the ones that spearhead the Anti Bullying committee but whose own children get bounced around from caregiver, nanny and endless activities with their behavior problems while the Mom attends meetings so she can say she's attending to her kids when really all it boils down to is her hankering for mommy street credit v.s. really being present with her kids and doing the hard work in her 5,000 square foot house loaded with every gaming system known to man. News to you Ubermom.....your kid IS the bully! Get off the committee and GO HOME! Be with this little person you brought in to the world! He's sad and misses you and even though you don't know it yet, you are sad too and are screwing up the best part of your life. So....you'd gain a pound if you don't go to body combat EVERYDAY, so you'd have to move if you and your husband didn't have two GIANT careers going at once into say....a 3,000 sq ft home....

I strive to not be judgemental but my husband and I have come from working our way from being a young couple in our twenties on welfare surfing and seeing single use food packaging invade our beaches to starting a fundraising effort for our global brothers and sisters to becoming an investment banker and investors looking ahead to the next step asking ourselves continuously....WHAT IS ALL THIS FOR?

Race to Nowhere....Waiting for Superman.....and I AM....see all three and you have a good picture of where we are going if "the shift" doesn't happen and a good road map for how to be the change you wish to see in the world!

What I do everyday to be the change is sacrifice my own personal ambitions and agenda for the sake of doing the hard job of parenting where I am present and available to my kids. REALLY available....not just PTA available.......It's not for the faint of heart or the weak in self esteem. You have to be strong in who you are regardless of the lack of outward expression of how you've made your mark on the world.....it's an investment and a gamble and one that I hope will play out in about 18 or so years.......one that hopefully my kids will manifest with authentic lives and an ability to make real connections with people and be caring and responsible members of the world as stewards of the Earth and humanity. I think that is what I AM seems to be all about and I try to extend the compassion I have for my kids and see everyone as the child they once were and recognize the divine within each individual. I am lucky to be able to have this option to live this way and grateful everyday for it. It's not about "staying home" as much as it is about making the best choices and staying connected. If everyone "minded their own store" so much of the world would be at its best!

I just got back from watching the film. At a young age I discovered for myself how alive the whole Earth is. I watched my arms sway in the breeze and simultaneously through the leaves on the trees. The tree and I shared a common thread.I cried so many times during the film, that chest expanding and eye watering feeling all too familiar to me. I am a 26 year old identical twin. Empathy has always been my reigning trait. I have often been told I'm too sensitive or emotional. Watching this documentary empowered me. It made my heart explode with excitement. I can't wait to share my love with the World. From this day forward I am alive in my compassion and no longer will allow the idea that it is my compassion that holds me back. Thank you. It is brave and necessary for more people act out their subdued compassion. I hope to meet you one day and give you a hug :)

Thanks to all of you for this wonderful film. I have spent my career seeking to help people one person at a time. As I have begun a sort of gentle "glide path" into retirement, I have found myself searching for a new focus of meaning in my life, and feeling somewhat frustrated in the attempt. As I watched your film, I realized that a portal of sorts was opening before me. Having just seen your film hours ago, I am not sure where that portal will lead, but I feel ready to step through and find out. Again, thank you!

Seeing the film reminded me of much that I have experienced as Truth, as Sacred - many thanks. A foundational memory came back for me vividly. In 1978 when I was 20 I went to work with Mother Theresa in Calcutta and had a day of horrors and suffering that culminated in a spiritual experience which this movie gave me a new insight about. Not only are we all connected and love is a deep part of our reality, but I believe and have experienced that the Ultimate is Good. It's not just that we live with a mixture of competition and compassion, but that Wellbeing is and always will be at the heart of the universe. It is my best way to understand God and I am grateful to you for this reminder.

Addendum:

I took another friend to see the film and was touched again seeing it the second time—maybe even more than the first. I noticed this time the use of music and lyrics to enhance the ideas/information being displayed and discussed and realized that this also contributes greatly to the films message being absorbed in multiple modalities and penetrating beyond the conscious mind.

Had another awareness that everytime I choose a loving response, I am "voting" towards the "watering whole" that I want humanity to head towards. I had heard the deer research before from Thom Hartmann, but had only thought of it as evidence that our "animal" nature is wired for democracy. Now I see that not only do we vote with our dollars and voices (as well as collude in what is happening when we are not consciously involved), and make a difference with the acts of kindness and loving energy we express even at a micro level, but in the process we are building the critical mass in the "herd" for the direction we want to go. The action only has to be expressing the energy of loving–and not only towards others, but towards myself. This additional awareness was especially helpful to me since I am often challenged in watching the more exploitative, destructive and dishonest people and actions in the world. I want to meet that with the positive vibration I want to see more of, rather than a trigger response of anger and outrage. I can take action, but the intention and vibration I hold is more powerful in effecting my vision if it is consistent with that vision.

Again, these ideas aren't new to me but the movie gave me visuals and a kinesthic sense that assists in keeping conscious of a loving intention. It had a way of helping to align the more cynical, logical, skeptical, disempowered and angry parts of me and get them on board.

Thank you. I really like "I AM because WE ARE". I am going to be part of a new university (InsightU.net) offering a doctorate and masters degree in "Transformational Leadership". I think the movie would be a great stimulus for discussion in the program. I've suggested using it in our orientation weekend but if not I'll find a way to use it somewhere in my course. When is it scheduled to be out in DVD?
